EXECUTED DEMONSTRATION · 19 SEPTEMBER 2026
From a quotation request PDF to an Excel draft.
Exact catalogue matches get approved prices. Unknown items, conflicting descriptions and missing prices stay unpriced for human review.
Manual n8n trigger → local Python adapter → text-PDF extraction → approved price lookup → Excel + run manifest
7 rows in. 4 need review.
Three lines are priced. Their partial subtotal is 0.19 AED. The complete quotation total is withheld because four lines remain unresolved.
Execution timestamps and node results · Run manifest and file hashes
Failure stays a failure.
A second n8n execution used an invalid PDF. The adapter returned HTTP 422, n8n reported an error, and that run produced no Excel file. Every run uses its own directory and manifest.
What is inside the downloadable workbook?
English/Arabic column headings, a draft summary, all input rows and a separate review sheet. Amounts are exact text cells in this demonstration, not spreadsheet formulas.
| Input row | Result | AED line total |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Cable, 3 × 0.005 | Exact match | 0.02 |

| 3 · Unknown code | Human review | Unpriced |

| 5 · Description conflict | Human review | Unpriced |
| 6 · Missing approved price | Human review | Unpriced |
| 7 · Repeated cable line | Preserved separately | 0.02 |
Unit prices retain their precision. Each line total is rounded half-up to two decimals after multiplication. No substitutions, inferred prices, taxes or currency conversion.

Reproduce the checks
14 passing acceptance tests cover real PDF extraction and workbook reopening, decimal rounding, invalid quantities, unknown and ambiguous records, duplicate lines, unsupported layouts and failure after success.
Scope is deliberately narrow
- One text-PDF layout, up to 2 pages and 20 rows.
- Up to 100 catalogue and price-list rows; AED only.
- No OCR, wrapped descriptions, ERP or automatic email.
- Local n8n calls a loopback adapter; cloud deployment requires adaptation.
FIXED STARTER · US$75
Test your RFQ layout before commissioning the full workflow.
I offer a US$75 fixed feasibility test within two business days after we approve your sample, scope and start date in writing. One text-based PDF layout, up to two pages / 20 item rows, and up to 100 catalogue and approved-price rows.
- A sample Excel draft: exact matches priced, unresolved items unpriced in a review sheet.
- Written acceptance results, including one invalid-input case.
- Sample-processing code, a local n8n workflow and setup notes for the agreed supported layout; unsupported requirements explicitly documented.
- One revision for an error within the agreed scope.
No OCR, ERP connection, production deployment, automatic sending, taxes or currency conversion in this starter. I review feasibility before accepting the paid test. A different layout is not assumed to work because this demonstration works.
